With more than two decades of experience in medicine and physical therapy rehabilitation, Dr. Roberta Kalafut offers comprehensive spinal care as Physician Partner of SpineAbilene. Dr. Roberta Kalafut co-founded the nonsurgical spine care center with her husband and business partner, Dr. Edward Brandecker, in 1998. Dr. Roberta Kalafut’s Abilene, Texas-based medical facility explores advances in vertebral and musculoskeletal medicine with alternative treatment options.
Dr. Roberta Kalafut"s focus is to address a number of back issues, including herniated nucleus, spinal stenosis, and ruptured discs. Presenting patients with spinal injections, physical therapy, or other solutions based on their needs, Dr. Roberta Kalafut works to restore spinal function. Dr. Roberta Kalafut’s practice also offers the SpineAbilene Home Remedy Book, published for patients seeking at-home spinal relief.
Apart from her clinical practice with SpineAbilene, Dr. Roberta Kalafut holds membership with the International Society for Injection of the Spine, the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society, the American Medical Association (AMA), the Texas Pain Society, and the Texas Medical Association (TMA). Dr. Roberta Kalafut formerly performed the duties of Oral Examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. From 2005 to 2008, Dr. Roberta Kalafut served on the Texas Medical Board as the organization’s first female president. Dr. Roberta Kalafut’s board certification includes Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Pain Medicine.
Dr. Roberta Kalafut completed her physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the Inter-institutional Residency Program of Johns Hopkins Hospital and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, where she earned the leadership title of Chief Resident of the Inter-institutional Program during her final year.
